New situations call for new solutions – in this case, surgical face masks. Our task was to supply 230V/1ph variable-speed geared motors and controllers, in three different sizes, for a new production facility in Turkey. This production line assembles three layers of non–woven material with cutting and positioning of the nose bar, using newly developed ultrasonic technology. The challenge we faced was to supply 229-off GGM compact geared motors and controllers, from Korea delivery to Turkey, within 2 weeks, along with providing the required technical support, installation information, customs documentation, and managing the supply route.

Face mask production needed to start as soon as possible as Kubik Robotics had been let down by their previous supplier, due to the impact of coronavirus. GGM pulled out all the stops and re-scheduled their production to meet the tight delivery schedule. To further speed up the process, we used a new supply route, direct from the GGM factory in South Korea to the machine builder in Turkey. This was a learning curve for everyone involved, but after much email communication, the necessary customs declarations and CE certification were completed on time.
