£625 Raised For Cancer
Our very own Lorraine took part in the Race for Life this July. Many of you who know Lorraine would never have thought she would don a pair of running shoes but thanks to a family member she took up running and decided to take part in this years race.
After months of preparation, and some very untimely injuries, the day finally arrived, slightly overcast and not as hot as predicted, some would say ideal conditions, and in her pink t shirt and hat took to the 5K course at Bedford Priory Marina and although not managing her best time she did get round the course in one piece and raise a huge £625 towards this very worthy charity. Below is the thank you letter she received, with some information about where the donations are used.
You're amazing, Lorraine! ⭐
Thank you once again for taking part in Race for Life Bedford 5k 2022 and supporting Cancer Research UK's life-saving work. We hope you had a great experience with us!
You raised £625 during your Race for Life journey which is a fantastic achievement, thank you so much. We're so grateful for your support and promise to spend your hard earned donations wisely.
At Cancer Research UK, we're working every day to find new and improved ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, to make it a disease people no longer die from.
Here's a few examples of what your kind donations could go towards:
🔬 £50 buys a microscope lens, meaning that our scientists can focus on beating cancer.
🔥 £100 buys a Bunsen burner - a simple item which allows our scientists to conduct vital cancer research experiments.
☎️ £200 funds our team of ten amazing cancer information nurses, who give confidential support and guidance over the phone to people affected by cancer, for one hour.
Thank you so much again for your ongoing support, Lorraine - we hope you're proud and would love to see you at Race for Life again next year.
